Puka Nacua doubles down on referee critiques in deleted X post

There was a “tweet and delete” situation following the Week 16 Thursday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks.

Rams wide receiver Puka Nakua has had an eventful week. He threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns in a Thursday Night Football loss to the Seahawks. This follows a controversial live broadcast appearance that resulted in him apologizing for an anti-Semitic dance he performed.

During the same broadcast, Nacua took aim at NFL referees, who he believed were motivated by their desire for the spotlight. After Thursday night’s loss, Nacua stepped up his criticism.

“Can you tell me I’m wrong? Thanks for your contribution. Haha,” he said in a now-deleted post.

Officials were involved, especially late in the game. The Rams were flagged eight times for 54 yards, including a critical 2nd-and-10 pass interference call on Los Angeles cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in overtime.

Remarkably, the officials turned a questionable incomplete pass into a fumble and a two-point conversion on a fourth-quarter attempt to tie the game.

A long punt return on the overtime kickoff was also flagged, but the Rams’ drive still resulted in a touchdown.

After the game, head coach Sean McVay said he had not spoken with Nakua about the post but assured it would be “corrected.”

The Seahawks currently sit at 12-3 and sit atop the NFC West.
