Sony launched the PlayStation 5 Pro, an upgraded version of its popular home console, in select markets on Thursday. PS5 Pro was released in September with an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing capabilities, AI upscaling technology for better image quality, and twice the storage space of PS5. However, Sony’s “most advanced and innovative console hardware yet” doesn’t come with a disc drive out of the box. Ahead of the PS5 Pro launch, Sony also shared a list of more than 50 games enhanced for the PS5 Pro that will be available at launch.
PS5 Pro price, availability
The PS5 Pro has a suggested retail price of $699.99 (approximately Rs. 58,750). In the UK, the console will cost £699.99, while in the EU and Japan it will cost €799.99 and 119,980 yen (tax included) respectively. Customers can purchase the additional disk drive separately for $79.9 and the stand for $29.99.
PS5 Pro is available now in select markets and can be purchased at participating retailers or directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. The console is available in a standard two-tone black and white color scheme or a limited edition gray option as part of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle.
Sony is yet to announce the launch date of PS5 Pro in India.

PS5 Pro specs, features
The PS5 Pro features some hardware upgrades over the PS5, with the console expected to offer better frame rates and higher resolutions. The console’s official specifications have now been revealed. It is equipped with the same AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU as the PS5, but has improved RDNA graphics, with GPU computing performance reaching 16.7 teraflops.
The console comes with 16GB GDDR6 memory and an additional 2GB DDR5 RAM for system tasks. PS5 Pro is equipped with a 2TB custom SSD, which has twice the storage space of the standard PS5.
In terms of features, PS5 Pro has advanced ray tracing capabilities for more accurate and realistic lighting and reflections in games. The console also debuts Sony’s new artificial intelligence upgrade feature called PlayStation Spectral Super-Resolution (PSSR), which uses machine learning-based technology to deliver better image quality.
