PlayStation5 ushered in the second major software update, bringing 3D audio support to TV speakers, M.2 SSD storage expansion, control center customization, Game Base’s new social features, game names updated in the game library, and PlayStation Now’s Network testing. In addition, Sony also announced updates to the PlayStation application and PlayStation Remote Play application. PS5 was launched in November 2020, and there are two models-vanilla PlayStation 5 and diskless PlayStation 5 digital version.

Through an article on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced the second major software update for the PlayStation 5. The update has been rolled out to users from September 15th. One of the main updates of PS5 is the ability to change the built-in solid state drive. Players can upgrade to any M.2 SSD with a sink, provided it meets the minimum performance and size requirements defined by Sony.

Another major change in the update is 3D audio support for the TV’s built-in speakers. When enabled in the “Sound” menu, this function will adjust the two-channel TV speakers to a 3D sound that enhances the immersion of the game. Early 3D audio was only available for compatible headphones.

Sony also modified the game and social experience on PS5. Now players can more easily customize their control center by rearranging and choosing which controls to hide or unhide at the bottom of the screen. Players can easily view, write or reply to messages directly from Game Base. After expanding Game Base to full screen mode, players can see which friends are online, busy, or offline. Players can now accept or reject multiple friend requests at once.

If the player has installed both PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game, the game library will now display a special label in front of the PS5 game. These new tags will also be displayed on the main screen. Players can now pause or resume the screen reader by simultaneously pressing the PS + “triangle” button. The screen reader can also repeat whatever it reads by pressing the PS + right shoulder button at the same time.

It is now possible to choose PlayStation Now resolution between 720p or 1080p (depending on the game) for streaming. Players can also test their network connection test, which will help them analyze and solve connection problems. In addition, there is a new honor, players can reward other people and a new trophy tracker, so that players can quickly get up to five trophies. When the player beats his personal best score, PlayStation 5 will also automatically capture the video.

In addition, Sony has also updated the PlayStation Remote Play application for Android and iOS. Users can now use the application via the mobile Internet. However, players need a speed of at least 5Mbps to use the Remote Play application to play games. From September 23, users can view friends’ shared screen broadcasts together on the PlayStation app.

Finally, PS4 users will be able to view their PS5 trophies in their PS4 profile and trophy list. Both PS4 and PS5 owners can now disband parties without having to delete all players individually.
