New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel praised the Seattle Seahawks after their 29-13 loss in Super Bowl X. He also believes some value can be gained from this devastating defeat if the team uses it as a teaching moment.
“It’s only valuable if we understand what we need to do and what we need to do to improve,” Vrabel said after the game. “If we don’t do that, then it’s not going to be very valuable. “We had a really, really good year and I’m proud of that. But I don’t think this game is a reflection of our year. We lost, we got beat, we got beat in coaching and in games, give them credit. “
The Seahawks defense dominated the entire game.

New England’s offense didn’t score until the fourth quarter. The offensive line was completely overwhelmed by the Sonics’ defensive front. Quarterback Drake Maye, who was sacked six times, had three turnovers, including two interceptions and one fumble.
With that being said, the Seahawks defense performed extremely well against the offense. Cornerback Christian Gonzalez held just four catches for 27 yards against first-team All-Pro receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Aside from a couple of explosive runs from Kenneth Walker III and a touchdown pass from Sam Darnold in the fourth quarter, the defense did its best to keep the team in the game.
But this is not enough.
The better team wins on Sunday, and the Patriots will have to use the disappointment to make the necessary improvements and emerge stronger next season.
