Trevor Hoffman is one of the most popular players of all-time for the San Diego Padres, a fact highlighted by this week’s Padres Reaction survey results. gas light bulb When readers asked which of the 2026 bobbleheads would take them to a game at Petco Park, the top choice was the Hall of Fame closer. The Hoffman bobblehead will be given away to the first 40,000 fans when the Padres take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:10 p.m.
Hoffman began his tenure in San Diego after the 1993 season and remained with the Padres through the 2008 season. Hoffman accumulated 552 of 601 saves in San Diego, including a career-best 53 saves in 1998, helping the Padres reach the World Series. It’s fitting that the Hoffman bobblehead dons a navy blue hat, jersey and white pants, the uniform of that magical season.
Unsurprisingly, the Don & Mud themed game bobblehead was the second choice, featuring Don Orsillo dragging Mark “Mud” Grant on a lifebuoy in his mini-yacht. The broadcast team is regularly voted one of the best broadcast booths in Major League Baseball (MLB), and Padres fans often create banners dedicated to the pair, both at home and on the road. The Don & Mud bobbleheads will be available on Friday, July 31st when the Padres take on the San Francisco Giants at 6:40 pm, and fans must purchase a themed game ticket to receive one of the bobbleheads.
New Padres closer Mason Miller was also the fan choice, joining Hoffman and Don & Mud as the only bobbleheads among the nine to receive 20% or more of the vote. The Miller bobblehead will be given away to the first 40,000 fans when the Padres take on the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, May 7 at 7:10 p.m.
It’s been a slow offseason for the Padres and their general manager AJ Preller, but many fans and baseball reports still believe big moves are coming. Whether this will be a trade or a free agent signing, no one saw it coming and only time will tell. The team, which boasts stars like Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill and Xander Bogaerts, is enough to bring fans to the ballpark, and promotional giveaways in the form of bobbleheads add an extra incentive to attend games in person.
