The 2022 Oscars — or the 94th Academy Awards, as they’re officially called — are scheduled for Sunday, March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. This year’s Hollywood awards season ended later than usual due to the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics. For the first time, the Oscars have allowed 10 films to be nominated for Best Picture — which will be a permanent fixture in the future. The 94th Academy Awards will be hosted by Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall for the first time by three women of the Oscars.

Earlier this year, the 2022 Oscars sparked controversy announcing that the live broadcast would not feature winners in eight categories, including best editing and best sound. Instead, these will be submitted prior to the ceremony, which will be edited into the live broadcast. Steven Spielberg was among those who criticized the move.

On top of that, the Academy has teamed up with Twitter to create two new categories — Oscar Fan Favorite Polls and Oscar Cheer Moments — all in an effort to boost viewership for the increasingly unpopular awards show each year.
