Now, the 2026 season will be spent in the Pacific Northwest under the head coach Dan Lanning.
Simmons missed the start of the year until September 20 against UTEP. He ended up playing in eight games, racking up 10 tackles and even a breakup. All of this happened while being classified as a redshirt junior by ULM’s official roster.

Simmons still has one year of eligibility remaining. That’s because of his only season with South Carolina in Columbia. Simmons did not play for the Gamecocks, opting to redshirt the entire season. It might not have been the plan he imagined, but it’s turned into a positive one as the opportunity to play for Oregon State has presented itself.
