Nothing has finally launched its latest Phone 3a series in India and globally. The new Phone 3a series brings a lot of improvements and intelligence compared to the Phone 2a launched last year. This time, we have two models in this series, including Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. While both devices offer almost the same features, the company has launched the first Pro version in the ‘a’ series. Nothing Phone 3a Pro brings an updated back panel, a new periscope lens, a new set of interesting AI features, and the popular Glyph interface. I had a chance to use the device briefly, and here’s everything you need to know about the latest Nothing phone.
Nothing Phone 3a Pro price in India starts at Rs. The base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at $29,999. The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option is priced at Rs. 31,999. Finally, we have the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage priced at Rs. 33,999. The brand is offering various offers through which you can effectively buy the device for as low as Rs 24,999.
Starting from the design language, Nothing Phone 3a Pro adheres to the brand’s design philosophy. You get a clear back panel, which is now made of glass. The device is available in two color options: gray and black. I received the former for review and it definitely gave me that “nothing” feeling.
The phone comes with a transparent glass back and a large circular camera module.
But what makes it stand out from other Nothing smartphones is the large circular camera module. The brand says it used such a prominent circular module to integrate the periscope lens. You can also see the glyph interface around the camera module, which looks nice. However, such a large camera module makes handholding the device a bit difficult. Additionally, such a large camera module can be a bit wobbly when placed on a flat surface.
Moving on, the frame looks solid. There are volume control buttons on the left side, a power on/off button on the right side, and a dedicated button for accessing the new Essential Space feature. The bottom has a SIM card tray, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille.
Nothing Phone 3a Pro features a 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz.
In terms of display, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro has a 6.77-inch Full HD+ flexible AMOLED panel. It’s a 10-bit display that offers a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, up to 1,000Hz in gaming mode. It also has a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, which is useful outdoors. The screen does look vibrant and sharp. I enjoyed watching some HDR videos on this smartphone.
Like its smaller sibling, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. The phone offers up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
The smartphone comes with three years of Android versions and four years of security updates.
The device runs Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15. The company promises three years of Android and four years of security updates for the device, which is pretty standard in this price segment. That said, Nothing has added the new Essential Space feature, which is a one-stop solution for collecting all kinds of data (screenshots, camera captures, etc.) and using AI to tag it for recall. There is a dedicated basic key next to the power button to access this feature. We will discuss this feature in detail in an upcoming review.
The phone comes with a triple-camera setup with periscope lenses on the back panel.
In terms of cameras, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro offers three rear cameras. The phone features a 50-megapixel main camera with an aperture of f/1.8. It also features a 50-megapixel periscope camera with 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 60x digital zoom. Apart from this, the phone also comes with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. There is a 50-megapixel sensor on the front with f/2.2 aperture for selfies.
As for the battery, the Nothing Phone 3a Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 50W fast charging and also gets an IP54 rating, making it splash-proof.
Nothing Phone 3a Pro features 50W fast charging and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery.
The Nothing Phone 3a Pro definitely looks like an interesting mid-range smartphone. The transparent back panel and huge circular camera module are really eye-catching, although it’s difficult to hold for long periods of time. While the device’s core hardware specs seem satisfactory, I’m yet to exploit its full potential in every department. That said, we’ll be discussing all the features of the latest Nothing Phone 3a Pro in our review, so stay tuned.
