Nintendo Switch (OLED model) has been released, with some upgrades and improvements to the original Switch. It will be available in two color options when it goes on sale later this year. Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will be compatible with all current Nintendo Switch games and current Joy-Con controllers. The OLED model brings a larger display, but under the same console size, this means that the frame is only slightly smaller. Compared with the original console, it also has twice the internal storage space.

Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is priced at US$349.99 (approximately Rs 26,100) and will be available in two color packages. The white suit has a white Joy-Con controller, a black host and a white base. The neon red/neon blue set has a neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controller, a black main unit and a black base. OLED models will be available in the United States and some regions on October 8. So far, there is no information about its availability in India.
In contrast, the original Nintendo Switch was launched in 2017 for US$299.99 (approximately Rs 22,400). It offers neon red and neon blue Joy-Con controllers or gray Joy-Con controllers. The console has not yet been officially launched in India, but it can be purchased through selected online retailers. Newer OLED models may also not be able to enter the Indian market.

Nintendo Switch (OLED model) made some key improvements to the original Nintendo Switch. The screen size has increased from 6.2 inches LCD to 7 inches OLED. The resolution remains the same at 1,280×720 pixels. The OLED model is powered by the same Nvidia custom Tegra processor, but has 64GB of internal storage space, compared to 32GB for the previous generation Switch. It can be expanded via microSDHC or microSDXC card (up to 2TB).
The wireless connection options remain the same-using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.1-but the new console gets a wired LAN port in the docking station. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port on the main console. When an external monitor is plugged in during docking, it can provide up to 1080p output. The battery capacity of the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is the same, 4,310mAh, the company said, depending on the usage, the battery capacity can be up to 9 hours. In terms of size, the OLED model has the same dimensions, 101.6×241.3×13.97 mm, but it weighs 421 grams compared to the original console’s 399 grams.
Other improvements made by Nintendo include a stronger, more versatile stand, similar to the stand on the Microsoft Surface Pro model. It allows you to place the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) in more positions allowed by the original Switch. Nintendo said that the stereo speakers on the OLED model have also been enhanced.
