NFL Insider floats new name in Tennessee Titans coaching search

To say the Tennessee Titans have had a disappointing season would be an understatement. The Titans will face the Cleveland Browns, who have the NFL’s worst record, in Week 14 and are fighting for draft position, not just wins.

The season was a disaster, leading to Brian Callahan’s early firing. While the team has seen some growth and progress under interim head coach Mike McCoy, he’s clearly not a long-term solution.

The Titans need to find a head coach who can bring stability to a struggling franchise while also finding someone capable of developing Cam Ward into the top quarterback that management believed they would be when they selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While fans and experts have weighed in on potential candidates, no clear name has emerged yet.

Albert Breer made big comments this week on his Monday Morning Quarterback series, mentioning the Titans’ methodical search and some of the names he’s heard.

While Mike McCarthy, Matt Nagy, and even Jesse Minter have stirred up controversy on social media, the name Chris Shula is a new one being added to the list of potential candidates with some connection to the organization.

As defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, Shula has become a popular name for potential openings around the league. The 39-year-old defensive coordinator has risen through the ranks with the Rams since being hired by Sean McVay as assistant linebackers coach and is expected to become the next head coach in McVay’s tree.

Shula has deep NFL pedigree in coaching circles, being the grandson of Hall of Fame coach and NFL legend Don Shula and the son of longtime NFL assistant David Shula, and the young coach found his name mentioned in multiple opening remarks.
