New York Giants signing safety Elijah Campbell to one-year deal

The New York Giants will sign safety Elijah Campbell to a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The move adds depth to the secondary, with Campbell being valued primarily for his special teams abilities rather than as a regular defensive contributor.

Campbell will be 31 years old during the 2026 season and is 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa in 2018 after spending his college career at Iowa Western Community College and Northern Illinois.

After brief spells with the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, he spent the final five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in 68 games (three starts) and establishing himself as a reliable special teams player. He has totaled 45 tackles, two passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in his career, with very few defensive snaps in recent years — just 16 in 2025.

The Giants’ secondary has gone through some changes this offseason, including safety Dane Belton transferring to the Jets. Campbell joins recently signed safeties Jason Pinnock (re-signed to a one-year deal on the same day) and Adalius Washington to provide a wealth of experience on special teams where he has consistently contributed at all levels.

This low-risk addition enhances roster flexibility as the Giants prepare for the upcoming season.
