Mission Majnu, Netflix India’s first major release in 2023, launches today (January 20) on the streaming service globally. The spy thriller, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna, is scheduled to air on Netflix at 12:30 p.m. and can be streamed or downloaded and watched via the Netflix app or web browser on compatible devices. The film, which claims to be inspired by true events, is set in the 1970s and stars Malhotra as a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) operative who goes undercover in Pakistan to gather intelligence about the country’s nuclear weapons program.
The upcoming film also stars Parmeet Sethi as real-life Indian spy chief Rameshwar Nath Kao, the first head of RAW from its founding in 1968 until 1977. Other cast members include Ashwath Bhatt, Kumud Mishra and Zakir Hussain in supporting roles, while the film is directed by Shantanu Bagchi, who made his directorial debut as Mission Majnu.
Viewers can watch Mission Majnu in Ultra HD resolution and Dolby Vision on supported devices, depending on the Netflix plan you subscribe to. Netflix plans start at Rs. The mobile-only plan in India starts at $149 per month and goes up to Rs. The Premium plan, which costs $649 per month, provides access to UHD and HDR content on up to four screens simultaneously.
In addition to Mission Majnu, Netflix has several other blockbuster releases today, including Israeli drama Fauda season 4, Bling Empire: New York and South Korean film Jung_E. Netflix separately announced that co-founder and longtime CEO Reed Hastings is stepping down from that position and will serve as future executive chairman.
