Furthermore, the Argentine’s body seems to be breaking down regularly after suffering a number of major injuries since his move to the Red Devils.
Add to that the uncertain future of Harry Maguire and it’s clear United need to recruit a defender in the summer.
With Ineos preferring players with Premier League experience, it would be no surprise to see the 20-time English League One champions linked with a blockbuster move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Mickey van de Veen.

According to SportsBoom, United may eventually have to endure disappointment against Real Madrid or Barcelona, which appear to be the 24-year-old’s preferred destinations.
SportsBoom revealed: “Mickey van de Veen has rejected contract talks as he looks to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.”
“The defender has already attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. Our sources have been told that with Tottenham’s situation deteriorating, he is unwilling to discuss a contract extension with Premier League clubs.”

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can change Tottenham’s mind with a record-breaking bid for Mickey van de Veen. They definitely can’t give up that easily, that’s for sure.
