Micah Parsons regrets his relationship with Jerry Jones fell apart

Micah Parsons’ relationship with the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones ended in bitter and disappointing fashion last August when the Cowboys traded him to Green Bay. While the edge rusher said he had nothing to be angry about because he “went to another historic organization” that paid him a “historic amount,” Parsons did regret that contract negotiations became personal.

“I just hope some of these things Never happened. Do you know what I mean? ” Parsons told All City DLLS Cowboys’ Clarence Hill. “I wish he had never brought me into the office and just let the agent talk. I hope he hasn’t damaged our relationship. Up until this offseason, I thought Jerry and I had a great relationship, but it’s unfortunate that it turned out that way. “

Parsons’ relationship with Jones will never be the same, although Parsons claims he has no animosity towards his former club.

“I don’t know Jerry, but I don’t have any hatred,” Parsons said. “If I saw Jerry today, I would shake his hand and say thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a Cowboy.”

While Parsons may have forgiven, he hasn’t forgotten.

Jones believes they reached a handshake agreement on “terms, amounts, guarantees” without Parsons’ agent present. Parsons ultimately directed the Cowboys to deal directly with his agent, David Mulugaeta. Parsons said the March 18 meeting was the last time he spoke to Jones.

Parsons and Jones have since publicly feuded, with Jones insisting the Cowboys won the Aug. 28 trade.

“There are only two people who know the truth – me and Jerry Jones,” Parsons said. “I’m not angry or anything. I went to another historic organization. I got paid historic money. So I really have nothing in the world to be angry about.”
