Man City ‘hungry’ to repeat club’s feats of the past after reaching Carabao Cup final, says midfielder

Tijani Reynders says Pep Guardiola’s new-look Manchester City are ready to win their first trophy together after their Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

Reynders is one of many City players yet to win a trophy with the club and said doing so at Wembley in March would be a huge boost for his side to repeat the feats of previous City sides.

“One step closer to a trophy and we are hungry for it,” said the Dutchman, who scored in the second-leg semi-final win over Newcastle.

“For me personally it would be great to win my first trophy with Manchester City, so it’s fantastic.

“It’s another dream come true. Of course when I was a kid I watched the final there (Wembley) and I’ve always dreamed of it and now I’ll be there.

“So now I’m very happy and can’t wait.

“If we win that game, it will give us a lot of confidence and extra motivation. We’re ready.

“For example, if you see pictures of our training ground, then you want to achieve that goal too. That gives you extra motivation.”

City’s next game is against Liverpool on Sunday and Reynders is under no illusions that his side cannot make another mistake if they are to catch Premier League leaders Arsenal.

“We can’t make any more mistakes,” he said. “We want to win every game and this game will be no different for us, so we have to be ready.”
