Longtime retailer closing all stores, customers must use gift cards by next week

Clothing retailer Eddie Bauer continues to scale back its brick-and-mortar operations following news earlier this year that it would close all U.S. and Canadian stores.

The retailer has set a deadline for customers to redeem their remaining points in-store, according to Bloomberg. Customers have until March 12 to use any unused gift cards or adventure points. All sales are final and products purchased cannot be exchanged or returned.

It’s unclear when the remaining locations will permanently close.

According to its website, there are still seven Eddie Bauer stores in New York still open.

  • Cheektowaga: Walden Gallery

  • Colony: Northway Mall

  • Lake George: Adirondack Premium Outlets

  • Riverhead: Tanger Outlets Riverhead

  • Syracuse: Destiny America

  • Victor: Eastview Shopping Center

  • Waterloo: Waterloo Premium Outlets

The following four New York locations have closed:

  • Deer Park: Tanger Outlets

  • Johnson City: Oakdale Mall

  • Niagara Falls: Fashion Outlet

  • Saratoga Springs: Broadway

On January 29, sources told WWD that Eddie Bauer was “preparing to file for Chapter 11 to close approximately 200 of its North American stores,” ending its physical operations in the U.S.

The move is part of bankruptcy protection proceedings initiated by Eddie Bauer, the operator of the retail sector in the United States and Canada.

The lawsuit does not affect Eddie Bauer’s online or wholesale businesses, which are owned by a separate company called Outdoor 5. Additionally, locations outside the United States and Canada are operated by different licensees and will remain open.
