“We are very excited to add men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field to the athletic program at the University of Minnesota Crookston,” said UMC Athletic Director Stephanie Helgeson. “Our cross country program has experienced tremendous growth and success over the past seven years, and we believe we can see the same trajectory in men’s and women’s track and field. This also allows us to provide the most competitive environment for our cross country and track and field student-athletes.”

Minnesota State Crookston has added men’s and women’s cross country, flyboard, lacrosse and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field since 2019.

The programs build on the men’s and women’s cross country teams that launched in the fall of 2019. The men’s and women’s cross country teams are coming off their best seasons in program history in 2025, with the men’s team finishing in the top five at the NSIC meet for the first time. The women’s team also had its best result at the NSIC Championships, placing seventh out of 16 teams.
