Detroit Lions fan Ryan Kennedy got into a physical altercation with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf during Week 16 of the 2025 regular season and is suing multiple parties related to the incident that occurred last December.
According to CBS Sports’ DeJanay Booth-Singleton, Kennedy filed a $100 million defamation and negligence lawsuit against the Steelers organization, wide receivers DK Metcalf, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Shannon Sharpe’s company Shay Shay Media, All Time Sports LLC and Ford Field.

According to journalist Ari Meirov, Kennedy claimed that he was “falsely called a racist by national media” after a Dec. 21 altercation with Metcalf. His legal team said there was no video or audio evidence to support the claims involving racial slurs.
Additionally, Kennedy is suing Metcalf for assault and battery and the Steelers for “alleged liability in the incident.”
