After much hype and anticipation, Lava has finally launched a new smartphone in its Agni series. Yes, we’re talking about the Lava Agni 4, which also marks the brand’s entry into the UK market. The latest smartphone from the brand comes with a host of interesting features and specifications, including an AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor, new premium design, and more. The price tag of the phone is Rs. 24,999, you can buy it for Rs. 22,999 with some bank offers. That said, I had a chance to spend some time with the device, and here’s what you need to know.
Starting with the design first, the Lava Agni 4 is sure to have a unique look and feel when you take it out of the box. In fact, the box itself is different from other brands of boxes on the market. I got the Phantom Black color option for review, although it also comes in Moonlight Mist.
The Lava Agni 4 is available in Phantom Black and Purple Haze color options.
The company ensures that quality elements are incorporated into its designs. First of all, the phone comes with an aluminum flat frame that is comfortable to hold. The back panel uses AG glass, which is soft to the touch and provides a premium feel, but is prone to dust and oil marks. Wrapping it under a lid is definitely a good option. Then there’s a huge camera island that houses two cameras with Agni branding in the middle, which certainly provides a different look than other competitors.
The buttons are well placed and you also get an action key at the right place which is basically a shortcut key to perform certain functions like taking a screenshot or opening any app. I like that the company managed to give the Action a unique color, which adds some value to the design.
Lava Agni 4 comes with dedicated action keys that allow you to access different shortcuts or applications.
The rear panel houses the SIM slot, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille. That said, the Lava Agni 4 does offer an improved design language over its predecessor and is in line with other smartphones in this price segment.
In terms of display, Lava Agni 4 is equipped with a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. The screen features a 120Hz screen refresh rate, 446ppi pixel density, and a peak brightness of up to 2,400nits. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display does look promising and is bright in indoor conditions. The color looked good during my brief testing period, which we’ll talk more about in an upcoming review.
The smartphone has a cute avatar of Vayu AI on its home screen.
Now, let’s take a look at one of the device’s main highlights: Vayu AI. The brand claims that its newly developed products are emotionally aware and designed for the Indian market. It comes with different AI agents, including AI math and English teacher, AI horoscope, AI call summary, AI text assistant, AI photo editor, AI image generator, and more.
Additionally, a cute dog will appear on your home screen who can answer your questions. All of these features look really promising, but it will be interesting to see their real-world impact as we test them in different scenarios. So stay tuned for an in-depth review on this.
The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor.
In terms of performance, Lava Agni 4 is equipped with an eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor and Mali-G615 MC6 GPU. The device is available in a single memory variant that includes 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. The phone runs Android 15, and the company promises three generations of Android upgrades and four years of security patches.
As for the cameras, the phone comes with a dual-camera setup on the rear panel that combines a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS support and f/1.88 aperture, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture.
The phone comes with a dual camera setup on the rear panel with a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel combination.
The phone features a 50-megapixel shooter on the front, capable of recording 4K videos at 60 fps. Having said that, the camera interface is clean and photos taken in daylight conditions are decent, although I found the colors to be a little saturated.
Finally, the phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. You also get stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor along with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and more.
All in all, the Lava Agni 4 seems to be an excellent product from the brand, offering decent specs and price. However, less than Rs. 25,000 price segment is one of the hottest price segments right now and the competition is very fierce as we have models like Poco X7 Pro, OnePlus Nord CE 5, Infinix GT 30 Pro, etc.
