He’s having a rough season by LeBron James standards.

In addition to missing the Los Angeles Lakers’ first 14 games of the year with sciatica, James, in his 23rd season in the major leagues, has been less dynamic on both ends of the floor, leading to several lopsided losses.
The 6-foot-9 forward is averaging 20.9 points, 6.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game for Los Angeles this season while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from three-point range.
Still, it’s surprising that James is still producing in his early 40s. James scored 31 points against the Grizzlies on Friday night in an impressive 128-121 victory, making basketball history that may never be seen again in the NBA.
Real App said on X/Twitter: “LeBron James is the first player in NBA history to score 30 points after turning 41.”

Most players retire from the NBA before they turn 40. Those who meet that standard don’t make much of an impact, which isn’t surprising considering superhuman/generational athletes don’t make it to the NBA very often.
James is in a league of his own, which allows him to accomplish feats that other aging contributors can only dream of. While not impossible, it’s challenging to imagine another player age 41 or older scoring 30-plus points in a game for the foreseeable future.
