When you do something for the first time in 36 years, it’s special. Even more so when you do something like this at the University of Kentucky, where history is everywhere.
That’s exactly what the Kentucky basketball team did in its victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon.

UK statistician Corey Price said when Kentucky defeated Vanderbilt 91-77, it was the largest margin of victory at Rupp Arena when Kentucky was unranked and its opponent was ranked. The last time was Jan. 17, 1990, against No. 25 Alabama, which the Cats defeated by 17 points.
Now, the Cats are targeting a top-4 finish in the SEC Tournament before taking on Texas A&M on Tuesday night and facing SEC-leading Florida on Saturday.
With Tennessee losing to Alabama, the Cats have a chance to get a coveted double bye, which will give them an extra day of rest, which will come in handy when games are fast and furious in March.
