TOPEKA (KSNT) – A representative in the Kansas House of Representatives died Monday morning.
Kansas House Speaker Daniel Hawkins announced on March 2 that Olathe Rep. John Raisman (right) passed away at his home earlier in the morning. Raisman represents House District 121, which includes towns in Johnson County.

“John Raisman represented integrity, dedication, and genuinely cared about the people of his district,” Hawkins said. “In addition to being a true friend to many in the House, he was a staunch advocate for his community, always approaching his job with conscientiousness and thoughtfully considering the perspective of his constituents when making decisions. Our prayers are with his wife, Elizabeth, his family, and all who knew and respected him during this difficult time.”

Hawkins said Raisman previously served in the Army and worked in law enforcement for 28 years with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff. He began serving in the state Legislature in 2017.
“We mourn the unexpected passing of our dear colleague, Rep. John Raisman of Olathe,” said House Democratic Leader Brandon Woodard. “Rep. Raisman was a quiet but loving man who always took the time to discuss any bill with any of us. Kansas is a better state because of John’s service. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.”
Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly ordered that all flags on state buildings, grounds and facilities be flown at half-staff on the day of the internment to honor Raisman. Raisman’s detention date has not yet been announced.
