Jon Stewart’s Apple TV+ series now has a title: Jon Stewart’s Questions. Apple TV announced on Wednesday that “Problems with Jon Stewart” (a new current affairs series, an hour-long series of Emmy winners) will premiere on its streaming platform in the fall of 2021. Each episode will deal with a topic, which will be drawn from a national (American) conversation or Stewart’s advocacy work. Apple TV+ said that each season of “The Problem” with Jon Stewart will be further discussed in the accompanying podcast. Multiple seasons of the show have already been ordered.
Jon Stewart’s question marks the 58-year-old’s return to the genre that had ruled for 16 years during his performance on the Comedy Central Daily Show (currently hosted by Trevor Noah). Won 20 Emmy Awards and 10 consecutive outstanding variety series. Some of his correspondents continued to successfully perform their own political satires, including Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report on Comedy Central and later The Evening Show), John Oliver (HBO The evening of last week), Samantha Bee (“Variety”), TBS) and Hasan Minhaj (the late Netflix Patriot Act).
When Stewart is not there—the entire Donald Trump’s presidency is gone—Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Show series for five consecutive years. There is no doubt whether Jon Stewart’s question can bring Stewart back to the Emmy competition again. Since “The Problem with Jon Stewart” will not expire until the second half of 2021 (far beyond the May 31 deadline for the 2021 Emmys), his new Apple TV+ series will not expire until the 2022 Emmys Only qualified to participate.
In addition to hosting the role, Stewart will also serve as the executive producer of The Problem with Jon Stewart through his Busboy Productions division. Brinda Adhikari, a former CBS news veteran, has been appointed as the host and executive producer of Jon Stewart’s problematic show. Stewart’s long-term manager James Dixon (James Dixon) and EDEN Productions’ Richard Plepler will also serve as executive producers. Chelsea Devantez is the lead author of Jon Stewart’s “The Problem,” and Lorrie Baranek is the executive responsible for the production.
“The Problem with Jon Stewart” will premiere on Apple TV+ worldwide in the fall of 2021. This is part of a multi-year partnership between Apple and Stewart, which was first disclosed in October last year.
