Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this week, also ending a seven-year term as England’s white captain. Morgan took over as England captain in 2015, leading the team to its first World Cup victory home soil in more than 50 years in 2019. Tributes poured into the 35-year-old from all corners following the announcement, with several current and former cricketers congratulating Morgan on a stellar career. England pacer Jofra Archer also wants his former captain, in a cheeky way.

Twitter, Archer shared a video where he can be seen picking nutmeg on Morgan. Both players can also be seen laughing at it.

“@Eoin16 Happy retirement legend,” Archer captioned the post.

Morgan is widely credited for revolutionizing the way England played white-ball cricket, and his captain saw England go to a 50-plus-win World Cup 2019 and the team reached the 2016 T20 World Cup final.

England also reached the semi-finals of the 2017 trophy and the 2021 T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old made his ODI debut for Ireland in 2006 and his T20 debut four years later for England in 2009.

After Morgan retired, Joss Butler took over as England’s new white captain. Butler’s appointment was confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board Thursday.

He will be in charge of 12 matches in July, including the T20I and ODI series India and South Africa.
