Reliance Jio has launched JioMeet, which is Zoom’s answer. Mukesh Ambani’s telecommunications company has launched its video conferencing app on Thursday night, and with little fanfare, its app is already available in Google Play and App Store. After uninterrupted funding updates, Reliance Jio released its first new product and is competing with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and other popular video conferencing tools.
JioMeet supports direct calling (1:1 calling) and conferences that can accommodate up to 100 participants. According to Reliance Jio, the application provides enterprise-level host controls. You can use your phone number or email ID to register, and the conference supports HD quality. It is free to use. You can create unlimited meetings every day. The meetings can also be password protected and support the Zoom waiting room.
Reliance Jio saw a fundraising frenzy from April to June. First, it reached a deal with Facebook and the social network acquired 9.99% of Jio. Now, the telecommunications giant has launched its first new product within a period of time. In addition to supporting direct use through the browser (but only when you use Chrome or Firefox), there are also applications for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android application-you can find the link on the Jio website.
The platform has a very simple interface-actually looks like Zoom-but a quick test shows that it looks like other leading apps. JioMeet said the app supports multi-device login support on up to five devices, and you can switch seamlessly between devices during a call. There is also a function called “safe driving mode”, as well as standard functions such as screen sharing.
Although the app is now available to the public, Jio has tested it for several months, and you can see reviews on Google Play to show how the app used to require invitation codes. Now, all you need to do is to register for JioMeet.
