Reliance Jio launched True 5G service from Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar on Saturday, bringing the total number of Jio True 5G cities across the country to 226.
Starting today, Jio subscribers in Haridwar will be invited to the Jio Welcome Offer to experience unlimited data at up to 1 Gbps+ at no additional cost, the telco said.
Haridwar became the second city in the state to receive Jio True 5G services after the capital Dehradun, according to a company statement.
The company said Jio True 5G is rolling out fast and is the only 5G service in Haridwar, offering Jio subscribers the transformational benefits of True 5G technology.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “It is with great pleasure that the 5G (Fifth Generation Mobile System) service of Jio Networks, which started in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has been expanded and launched today in Haridwar. .With the commencement of this service, not only the people of Haridwar, but also pilgrims from home and abroad to the holy city of Haridwar, including pilgrims to Chatham in the near future, will benefit from it.”
According to the statement, the company has strong network coverage across the state, from the state capital, Dehradun, all the way to Mana, the last Indian village in Uttarakhand on the way to the India-Tibet border. It said Jio is the sole operator in the state, which is present in all Char Dhams, Shri Kedarnath Dham trekking routes and Shri Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara at 13,650 meters above sea level.
The Chief Minister also added, “Jio Networks is commendable for launching 5G services before the start of Chardham Yatra. I hope that Jio’s 5G network will soon be available in all major towns and cities of Uttarakhand. This will be done in the upcoming I am the Digital Devbhoomi State at the G20 Summit event in Rishikesh. I take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Haridwar, as well as the representatives associated with Jio Network in Uttarakhand.”
