New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxon Dart is dismissive of reports that the team may select a new quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the Giants will fully evaluate every option, including Heisman Trophy winner and Indiana star Fernando Mendoza, if they land the top option despite Dart’s presence.

The Giants, who snapped a nine-game skid with a 34-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders but fell to second in the draft (behind the 2-14 Raiders), asked Dart directly after the game if he had seen reports about potentially drafting a quarterback with the No. 1 pick.
“No, I didn’t,” Dart replied.
When asked how he deals with such speculation, Dutt remained unmoved.
“I’m going to keep playing. I know I’m going to be here for a long time and I’m excited to start winning more games, turn this situation around, do my job and we have a bright future,” he said. “It was one thing, I was just standing on the sidelines and watching Abdul [Carter] Ball, I’m watching DA [Darius Alexander] ball. skat [Cam Skattebo] Here today, when you think about this rookie class, I think we have a very bright future and we’re going to be a big pivot and turn this thing around. “

The Giants lost to Dallas in Week 18, the Raiders beat Kansas City to tie the record at 3-14, and New York has an easier schedule as the tiebreaker and still has a shot at first place.
Dart’s confident response suggests he sees himself as the long-term answer.
