It is said that Motorola’s next-generation flagship mobile phone is under development, with a refresh rate of 105Hz. The Lenovo-owned company already owns Motorola Edge and Edge+ phones that include 90Hz displays. However, it may plan to bring some difference by bringing odd refresh rates. This new development was released a few days after the main specifications of Motorola’s flagship products (including the Snapdragon 865 SoC) were released online. It is said that the new smartphone codenamed “Nio” will also be equipped with up to 12GB of RAM and provide dual selfie cameras.
Mishaal Rahman of XDA Developer on Twitter Reported The rumored Motorola “Nio” default peak refresh rate has been set to 105Hz. This sounds strange, because the display refresh rate is usually the least common multiple of 24 and 30 frames per second. However, according to reports, Asus has taken similar measures and found that the gaming-based ROG Phone 3 tested the 160Hz refresh rate mode. However, Asustek has not made this model public.
Adam Conway of XDA developer speculated that Motorola may have just tested a 105Hz refresh rate during development and will set it to 90Hz when it is officially released. Or, the company can provide a unique refresh rate, dedicated to scrolling in the UI or application, and maintain the more commonly used 90Hz for video playback.
Motorola has not yet provided any official confirmation on the reported refresh rate findings. However, the company did expand the adoption rate of 90Hz frequency in its smartphone portfolio by applying it not only to flagship products such as Motorola Edge and Edge+, but also the introduction of Moto G 5G Plus earlier this year.
Motorola Nio specifications (expected)
It is said that Motorola’s “Nio” has a full HD + (1,080×2,520 pixels) display and two different configurations: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. There are also rumors that the phone has a triple rear camera with a 64-megapixel main OmniVision OV64B sensor. In terms of capturing selfies, it is said that Motorola smartphones have two cameras on the front with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor.
Motorola may bring new phones to the market with an Android 11 experience out of the box. In addition, there are rumors that the phone will be launched in the first quarter of next year.
