Hyderabad: After a 65-run victory over KKR, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be full of confidence heading into their first home match against Lucknow Supergiants on Sunday afternoon. Although the Sunrisers posted a record of 201/9 in the season opener, they started the season with a loss to defending champions RCB, mainly due to a disappointing performance from their bowling unit.
However, everything went well for the 2016 champions against KKR. The SRH bowlers performed well after posting 226/8 – the team’s highest total so far this season – despite missing Pat Cummins, who has returned home for a final scan on a back injury. He may rejoin the squad on April 17, subject to approval from Cricket Australia (CA). During this time, Cummins, who has been out since last July, will be monitored by CA’s medical team.
SRH coach Daniel Vettori is optimistic about Cummins’ return. “As part of his schedule he has to have a scan on April 15 to clear everything.
Everything went well because he trained with us and he looked really good. He will rejoin the team and undertake a slow recovery with the hope of being able to play at the end of April. ” said Vettori.
