When Sanju Samson was named to India’s T20I and ODI squad for the New Zealand tour, fans of the star cricketer thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the player. However, the goalkeeper batsman did not find a place in the XI of the T20I series. On social media, Samson fans expressed their displeasure that Samson did not have the chance to play in the T20I series. Now, Indian spin great Ravichandran Ashwin addressed the issue of Samson not getting chances.

“With the talent he (Sanju Samson) has, if he doesn’t play, he’s obviously going to be a favorite. I want Sanju Samson to get all the chances. In fact, I even said I’m looking forward to seeing him play because he’s in a very good state right now. Well, and a great performance,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

The veteran cricketer also spoke about how India’s captain for the T20I series against New Zealand, Hardik Pandya, handled the talk of Samson’s inclusion well.

“He (Samson) is a very exciting player but so far we have not been able to get him to play because of the different combinations we have had,” said Hardik Pandya. In fact, the media asked him why he didn’t play Sanju Samson. Hardik Pandya replied in Thala Dhoni style. He said my room door is always open, any player can come and talk to me. It’s to see him speak so clearly l. Actually, I don’t know if he to say it in Thala Dhoni style because we all know that Hardik is very close to Thala Dhoni. He had said earlier that he had learned a lot from Thala Dhoni. He a tricky problem that’s always trending on social media beautifully. So kudos to Hardik,” Ashwin said.
