senator. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) dropped a nuclear bomb on his colleagues Rand Paul (R-Ky.), even said he understood why Paul’s neighbor attacked him in 2017.
Senior Oklahoma political reporter David Arnett Mullin detailed Paul’s attacks on Paul on his Substack on Thursday, buried in an in-depth profile of the Oklahoma senator.
Mullin spoke at the McGrath Breakfast in Tulsa on Valentine’s Day and answered questions from constituents.
“The question is why did I vote to give the illegals more money? I didn’t. The president made it clear he wants the appropriations bill to pass. If any of the amendments pass, it would repeal the entire bill. Rand Paul’s amendment sounds good, right? The problem is Rand knows that if this bill passes, it will repeal eleven other appropriations bills, which will bring us to a shutdown,” Mullin replied to voters, adding:
Rand never voted [Republicans] When it comes to appropriations bills. I had to vote no because if this bill passed, it would not only repeal that bill, but it would also repeal the farm bill, which is tied to social programs. If you change the ratio (about 70/30) you have to redo the entire farm bill.
What Rand is trying to do is try to repeal the Farm Bill because he’s trying to legalize cannabis beverages in Kentucky because of the shift in the tobacco industry. There’s always a backstory.
I respect Bernie Sanders because he’s an open socialist and you know he’s a communist so you know what you’re going to get. Rand Paul is a fucking snake. I totally understand why his neighbor did what he did. I told him this to his face. It stirred up people like Cheryl (Murin’s wife) who didn’t know the backstory. Then that night Rand sent out a fundraising letter about the matter. This is a gimmick.
Paul, whose politics are more liberal, has long been a thorn in the side of the Republican establishment, particularly over issues of the national debt and foreign intervention.
In November 2017, Paul had a scuffle with his neighbor, resulting in Paul’s rib fractures and subsequent bouts of pneumonia. After filing a civil lawsuit, Paul’s attacker was ultimately sentenced to 30 days in jail and forced to pay Paul $582,834.82 in restitution. The fight reportedly started when Paul was raking leaves near the dividing line between the two properties.
