Hubbard scores 32 points to lead Mississippi State past Ole Miss

Josh Hubbard scored 32 points and Achor Achor scored 18 as Mississippi State beat Mississippi State 90-78 on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Hubbard made 12 of 16 shots and Acho made 6 of 8 shots. Jayden Epps added 12 points for Mississippi State (12-13, 4-8 SEC). The Bulldogs shot 57 percent (33 of 58) from the field.

Malik Dia tied a career high with 32 points, and reserve AJ Storr scored 21 points for Mississippi State (11-14, 3-9). On January 7, 2024, while Dia was at Bellarmine, the Bruins defeated Drake 87-65, scoring 32 points.

The Rebels have now lost seven straight games. Mississippi State has lost eight of nine games.

Mississippi State led 13-3 and never trailed. At 8 minutes and 13 seconds before halftime, Travis Perry hit a three-pointer, and 30 seconds later AJ Stoll scored a layup, and the Rebels chased the score to 24-21.

Jamarion Davis-Fleming dunked, Epps made two free throws, Hubbard hit a three-pointer, widening the point difference to 10 points, and the Bulldogs fought back.

With 4 minutes and 20 seconds left before halftime, Stoll hit a layup and Dia’s jumper reduced Mississippi’s deficit to 31-26. Mississippi State went on a 16-2 run to end the half with a 47-28 lead.

The Bulldogs led by double digits throughout the second half.
