The HP OmniBook 3 is a new budget-centric laptop from the brand that offers an interesting set of features and specifications. The laptop positions itself as an easy-to-use entry-level laptop that offers AI-centric features. The price tag is Rs. Priced at 69,999, this HP laptop offers decent features like anti-glare screen, AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 processor, 50 TOPS NPU performance, and more. So does it make sense to go with the brand’s latest laptop? I had the opportunity to use this device for quite some time, and here’s what you need to know.
HP OmniBook 3 Design: Common but Elegant

The HP OmniBook 3 brings a conservative design to this price range. While brands like Motorola and Asus are launching some bold colors, the HP OmniBook 3 brings you a standard, no-nonsense design. The laptop comes in a single Glacier Silver color option, which looks standard but isn’t cheap.
HP has made some efforts to use sustainable materials, including ocean plastic and post-consumer recycled materials, in the HP OmniBook 3 laptop. This is a good thing that HP has done well in this area and hopefully other brands will follow suit. That said, this approach doesn’t mean the brand has compromised on build quality. The laptop feels solid, with very little flex in the keyboard and lid. The hinge feels stable even if you write very rigorously.
The laptop has a certain number of connection ports.
The port selection here isn’t as extensive. The laptop comes with 1 USB Type-A port, 1 HDMI port and 1 USB Type-C port on the left side and 1 USB Type-A port and 1 AC smart pin on the right side.

HP OmniBook 3 comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD+ IPS display. The display has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels instead of a 16:10 aspect ratio. Still, it’s powerful enough for multitasking or opening spreadsheets, documents, PPTs, and more. I like that the company offers an anti-glare option, which is rare in this price segment.

That said, the overall score is pretty average, to be honest. The company has adopted a 6-bit panel, which is not very user-friendly. Colors seem washed out, and viewing angles aren’t that great. If you like to binge-watch content or edit photos and videos on your laptop, this might not be the right choice for you.
The laptop also comes standard with a 60Hz screen refresh rate, which is relatively standard. However, offering a high screen refresh rate will definitely improve the performance of the HP OmniBook 3.

The HP OmniBook 3 features a backlit keyboard with two different brightness modes. It comes with a full-size keyboard, a rare feature in this price segment. That said, the key spacing feels a bit awkward, but once you get used to it, it’s doable. Additionally, I noticed that the travel distance and tactile feedback were great for comfortable typing for long periods of time.

Moving on, the laptop comes with a large trackpad that feels responsive and the physical clicks feel good. Just like other laptops with numeric keypads, this one also has a slightly off-center trackpad.
Interestingly, the laptop also comes with a fingerprint scanner, but not in the usual location. The company has placed the sensor between the Enter key in the numeric keypad. The sensor feels reliable, and you also get Windows Hello support for secure authentication.

The webcam works fine. The laptop comes with HP True Vision 1080p FHD camera that comes with some AI features to enhance the entire video calling experience. Whether it’s background blur or Windows Studio effects, they all help provide a better video call experience. Moving on, this laptop also comes with dual bottom speakers, which are not the loudest but get the job done regardless.

HP OmniBook 3 runs on Windows 11 Home operating system. Interestingly, this laptop also qualifies as a Copilot+ PC with 50 TOPS NPU performance. The user interface comes with minimal bloatware.

The application consists of three main parts: discovery, analysis, and execution. The app worked fine during the review period.

Performance-wise, the HP OmniBook 3 can handle everyday tasks with ease. For the most part, I didn’t experience any stuttering or lag while scrolling on Chrome and playing music at the same time.
The laptop offers decent day-to-day performance.
Everyday tasks like web browsing, video conferencing, and running office applications feel responsive. The system can also handle multiple browser tabs and apps without much lag. However, this machine is not suitable for heavy multitasking or more demanding tasks, such as using Photoshop or editing videos.
Additionally, you can also play some light gaming on this laptop, although it is not suitable for serious gaming. You can play older games like Age of Mythology and Valorant at lower settings, but don’t expect it to run smoothly during heavy gaming sessions.

HP OmniBook 3 is equipped with a 3-cell 41Wh battery that supports fast charging. The battery life of this laptop is pretty good for its price. The laptop’s battery life is up to 8 hours under moderate to heavy use, which is enough for a day of use at college or work. Talking about fast charging support, the laptop takes nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes to fully charge, which is decent, if not great.
HP OmniBook 3 Verdict
All in all, the HP OmniBook 3 offers a good balance of minimalist style and good performance. This laptop isn’t designed to impress power users, but rather students or those switching from an older laptop without spending much. This laptop is designed to deliver reliable performance and a balanced user experience. The AMD chipset is designed to perform day-to-day tasks smoothly, although it’s not the best laptop for creators or gamers. Additionally, the laptop will face stiff competition from devices like the Asus Vivobook S14 (review) and Moto Book 60 (review).
