Hide My Email is available as a feature in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 that lets you hide your personal email address and keep it private. The feature enables Apple devices to share unique, random email addresses that users can use on websites and apps to ask for their personal email address to sign up. Random addresses help forward emails to your personal mailbox – while allowing you to delete them at any time. iPhone and iPad users can also use Hide My Email directly from Safari, Mail, and iCloud settings.
In this article, we’ll give you a step-by-step guide on how to use Hide My Email on your Apple device.
Before we start, it’s important to note that the Hide My Email feature is part of iCloud+ – a subscription-based paid service that starts at Rs. $75 per month ($0.99 in the US).
The feature is also an extension of the existing “Sign in with Apple” feature that the Cupertino company introduced in 2019, and is limited to services that can sign up with an Apple ID. Unlike Sign in with Apple, Hide My Email allows users to have a randomly generated email address that they can use anywhere. Users can also manage their existing random email addresses or deactivate any of them at any time.
How to set hide my email
After installing iCloud+ on your iPhone or iPad, you can set Hide My Email. Here’s how.
-
go set up Then click your name from the top.
-
Now, choose iCloud > hide my email.
-
tap + create new address. This will allow Apple to generate a random email address with @icloud.com that you can use to sign up on a new website or app without letting the developer know your personal email address. Emails shared with a randomly generated email address will go to your personal inbox.
-
beat continue If you like auto-generated random email addresses.Alternatively, you can click use a different address Get new emails.
-
Now you need to create a label for your address to help you remember how to use it in the future. You can also add notes for further reference.
-
tap Next from the top right corner.
Your random email address will now be set up for use. You can copy it from the Hide my email settings when you want to use it on your iPhone or iPad.
How to manage or delete email addresses created with Hide My Email
Here are the steps you can take to manage or delete randomly created email addresses using Hide My Email.
- Go to settings and tap your name from the top.
- choose iCloud > hide my email.
- Click the label associated with the random email address you want to manage.
- choose Label Select this option if you want to change the label of the address. You can also add notes by clicking notes. If you want to remove the address entirely, you can do that too – click Disable email address.
While Hide My Email has been part of Apple devices since the September release of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, the release of iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 earlier this month extends the feature to the Mail app. This enables users to create a random email address to use directly when sending emails using the preloaded app.
