Google launched Nano Banana Pro on Thursday. Also known as Gemini 3 Pro Image, it is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that excels at prompt-based image generation and editing. It features several improvements such as better text rendering, higher output quality, improved contextual reasoning, increased image input capacity, and more. The Mountain View-based tech giant has rolled out the tool to all users globally; however, finding where and how to use it, or even what to do with it, can be tricky. Here we have shared the details.
How to use Nano Banana Pro
Nano Banana Pro is available in the Gemini application and Google developer tools. To use it within the application, open Create Image and select Think from the model menu, this will switch you from the standard Nano Banana to the Pro model. From there, you can type a text prompt or upload one or more reference images for editing or compositing. The same Pro models are exposed to developers through Gemini API/Vertex AI and Google AI Studio for experimentation and integration.
For the convenience of readers, here is a step-by-step guide:
- Open the Gemini app on Android and iOS, or visit the website.
- Click Create image from the options listed on the screen. If you can’t find it there, select it from the Tools menu in the text box.
- From the model menu located in the lower right corner of the text box, select thinking (Select Nano Banana Pro here).
- Enter a clear prompt (subject, action, and style) and include any details such as camera angles, lighting, mood, aspect ratio, output resolution, etc.
- If you want local editing, tell Gemini exactly what you want to change. If you are not satisfied with the output, you can send a follow-up prompt to get the desired result.
- Once you have generated or edited the desired image, you can click on it and tap on the download option. Both the free and pro versions have visible watermarks. Ultra subscribers can eliminate visible flash, but the SynthID remains.
What is Nano Banana Pro?
Nano Banana Pro is the second generation of Google’s new image generation and editing tool, capable of making subtle changes to images without affecting other elements. The first version was powered by the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, while this version benefits from the features of the more advanced Gemini 3 Pro.
What’s new in Nano Banana Pro?
Nano Banana Pro brings a series of simple upgrades to Google’s image generation family. The model now allows users to combine up to 14 images in a single prompt and maintain a consistent appearance for up to 5 people in the output. Editing is also more flexible, allowing you to target specific areas of an image, move the camera angle, change focus, or adjust lighting, including flipping the scene from day to night. The system also supports higher resolution results, up to 2K and 4K.
Text rendering has also been updated. The model is now able to handle longer paragraphs and a wider range of fonts and languages, which expands its use in posters, graphics, and other text-heavy visuals. In addition, each image is tagged with an invisible SynthID, and most users will also see a visible watermark unless they are using the Ultra tier or Enterprise client.
