WhatsApp is making it easier for users to reject spam calls. Meta’s messaging app now allows users to block spam calls from unknown contacts. These calls may also come from numbers that are not saved in your contact list. The feature was announced earlier last week and is available on the stable version of the WhatsApp mobile app for Android and iOS. Users can still see when they missed calls from unknown numbers.
In a statement last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a new feature that allows WhatsApp users to mute incoming calls from unknown contacts. The feature is currently available in the stable versions of WhatsApp on Android and iOS.
While the user will continue to receive the call or receive a missed call notification if the call is not visible, silencing calls from unknown numbers can avoid nuisance because these calls will not ring.
If you want to mute incoming calls from unknown numbers in WhatsApp calls, you can follow these steps:
1. Open WhatsApp on your smartphone
2. Go to Settings and select the Privacy option
3. In the Privacy options, select the Calls tab
4. Here you can enable the “Mute unknown calls” switch
Android users can access Settings by clicking the dot option there, while iPhone users can select the gear icon to access the Settings menu.
Additionally, users can also disable the toggle for “Mute Unknown Calls” if they wish to continue listening to calls from contacts not saved in their Contacts, including spam calls.
Alternatively, users can choose to save the number in their contact list if they don’t want to miss important calls from known numbers that are not saved.
