How to Change Phone Number in Aadhaar Card: A Step-by-Step Guide

Aadhaar is a 12-digit number issued to every individual by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). This is an important document authorized by several organizations to obtain benefits and welfare programs issued by the government. Additionally, it serves as proof of identity and address for all services such as banking, admissions, driving license, passport and various forms. Since it is of critical importance, all information registered under Aadhaar must be kept up to date to reduce discrepancies.

Whenever you enter your Adhar number Once you enter the portal, a one-time password (OTP) is sent to your mobile number to confirm your identity. However, this can be troublesome if you have moved to a new number and have not updated it in the UIDAI database. To eliminate such potential situations, citizens are advised to promptly update their phone numbers registered with government entities.

Here is the step-by-step guide to change the phone number in Aadhaar card. Please note that this process cannot be completed online. You have to access Aadhaar Seva Kendra to change the phone number in the database.

How to book Aadhaar online Update:

1. Go to UIDAI website Follow the link here and select your preferred language

2. Select My Aadhaar > Get Aadhaar > Book an Appointment

3. Select your city/location from the drop-down list and select Continue to make an appointment

4. Enter your Register mobile numberfill in the verification code for verification, and then select Generate one-time password

5. Enter Disposable TP You have received and selected Verify one-time password

6. Now, select Resident type and enter the following information:

  • Adhar number
  • Name on Aadhaar
  • date of birth
  • App verification type
  • state
  • City
  • Adhar Seva Kendra

7. When finished, select the details you want to update. For example, select New mobile number If you want to update mobile number in UIDAI database.

8. Click Next and select a date and time for your appointment. choose Next

9. Now, verify the appointment details and select submit

10. Access Adhar Seva Kendra Confirm your appointment and update your details.

But please note that the update process will require you to pay a fee of Rs. 50. Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation with a URN (Update Request Number) that can be used to track status updates for your request.
