You hand your phone to someone to make a call, or look up something on the Internet, and you know they’re browsing your messages. Most people know not to be so rude, but we all know one person who really doesn’t understand why it’s rude.
Not everyone has something to hide, but now we all carry virtual records of our lives in our pockets. Our smartphones have a lot of personal information that we don’t want others to see.
One way to protect your privacy is to set a passcode lock on your phone. While this serves the purpose in most cases, it’s useless when you hand your phone over to someone for a quick call or when they want to check something. In this case, a combination lock for a single app can come in handy. There are plenty of apps for Android that let you do this, but Smart AppLock is our favorite.
You can set Smart AppLock to protect your apps from curious friends by:
-
Download Smart App Lock.
-
When you start the app for the first time, it will ask you to set a password. The default password is 7777, you will see the password prompt on the screen. Tap on these numbers to open the app.
-
Now App lock Tabs will be displayed.
-
click green + button at the bottom.
-
Select the apps you want to lock with a passcode. All you need to do is click the checkmark next to each app you want to protect.
-
tap Add to.
-
Next to each application, you’ll see a label labeled Forged. Click this button to enable fake app crash messages. Whenever you open the app, you’ll see a message like “Unfortunately, WhatsApp has stopped”. This will display the name of any application for which you have enabled the setting. If someone sees the message and clicks OK, Smart AppLock returns to the home screen. But if you click and hold OKyou will be asked to enter your app password.
That’s it. All apps of your choice are now hidden behind a password. But it’s a good idea to change the default password, you can do this:
-
Swipe left to set up Label.
-
tap Password and Pattern Settings.
-
tap password and key in a new numeric code.
-
tap password hint Prompt to override default settings.
-
You can also switch to pattern lock, gesture lock or character combination lock.tap lock type Replace with.
This will set a common password for all the apps you choose. If you want to set a different password for any app, try the steps below.

Open Smart AppLock and swipe left set up Label.
-
tap multiple passwords.
-
tap add password.
-

We really like Smart AppLock because it doesn’t just protect your apps. The way it does this is to prevent any unauthorized user from knowing what’s going on.
