Don’t want to open the app to check little things like the weather forecast or cricket scores? Widgets are exactly what you need. With widgets, you can get a small amount of information from an app without launching the app. In iOS 8, Apple allows you to add widgets to the Notification Center. This keeps your home screen uncluttered and important information just a swipe away.
We’ve written an article about our favorite notification center widgets, and if you’re wondering which ones to start using, you should read that article. If you’ve updated to iOS 8 and want to learn how to enable widgets, read on.
1. Install an app that supports Notification Center widgets. The same goes for the NDTV app, in addition to Yahoo News Digest, Dropbox, Sky Guide, and several others.
2. Now on the home screen of your iOS device, swipe down from the top to pull down Notification Center.
3. Tap the Today button near the top of the screen.
4. You will see notifications for the day. Click the Edit button at the bottom of the page.
5. Now you will see a list of installed apps that support widgets. Tap the green “+” button next to each widget to display it in the Notification Center.
6. If you want to remove any widget from Notification Center, click the red “-” button next to the widget.
7. You can also rearrange the widgets. Just tap and hold the three horizontal lines to the right of any widget, then drag it up or down to where you want it.
8. When you’re done making adjustments, tap Done in the upper right corner.
That’s it. The widget will now appear in the “Today” view in Notification Center. Which widgets are your favorite? Let us know by commenting. For more tutorials, visit our how-to section.
