After snow began falling early on December 1, some areas received more snow than meteorologists initially expected.
Rushville saw a record snowfall of 6.8 inches, according to National Weather Service meteorologists.
For those hoping the roads are clear, meteorologists predict that snow will likely stay on the ground in the coming days as an arctic cold front is expected to move through Indiana later this week.

“There’s a lot of stuff on the ground that’s not going away anytime soon,” said Mike Ryan, a meteorologist at the New Weather Station in Indianapolis. “What doesn’t melt tomorrow will continue into the weekend because of the cold weather.”
Below are the snowfall amounts reported to the NWS for December 1-2, 2025. These are unofficial totals. Official totals are expected to be released later in the day.
