House of Dragons – the prequel to the fantasy series Game of Thrones – hit theaters on August 22 earlier this week. While the producers have only released one episode of the season, HBO already announced Friday that the show will be returning for another season. The show depicts the glory days of the ancestors of the popular kingdom rulers from Game of Thrones. About 200 years ago, Daenerys Targaryen or Khaleesi was born, based on the book Fire and Blood by George RR Martin.

With a picture of a dragon, HBO Max announced on Twitter that it has renewed “House of the Dragon” for a second season. The move comes after Season 1’s Sunday premiere in the United States attracted more than 10 million viewers overnight, a record for an HBO series opener.

TV network owner WarnerMedia statement.

“Our amazing cast and crew took on a huge challenge and exceeded all expectations. Thank you so much [to co-creator and executive producer George R.R. Martin and co-creator and showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik] lead us on this journey. Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming, said, “We’re thrilled to continue bringing the Targaryen epic saga to life in season two.

The 10-episode first season of Dragon House was co-directed by Ryan J. Condal and other showrunners. The series is published weekly and will end on October 24th. In India, the show is airing on Disney+ Hotstar.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Game of Thrones ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019. At least seven other spinoff are currently in the pipeline for the series.
