House of Dragons – the prequel to the acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones – hit theaters on August 22 earlier this week. While the producers have only released one episode of the season, HBO already announced Friday that the show will be returning for another season. The show depicts the glory days of the ancestors of the popular kingdom rulers from Game of Thrones. About 200 years ago, Daenerys Targaryen or Khaleesi was born, based on the book Fire and Blood by George RR Martin.
With a picture of a dragon, HBO Max announced on Twitter that it has renewed “House of the Dragon” for a second season. The move comes after Season 1’s Sunday premiere in the United States attracted more than 10 million viewers overnight, a record for an HBO series opener.
