Harper scores 22, Spurs rebound from 1st loss in 12 games to romp past 76ers 131-91

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Dylan Harper scored 22 points and Victor Vumbanyama needed just 10 to help the San Antonio Spurs rebound from their first loss in 12 games and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 131-91 on Tuesday night.

The Spurs hit 18 three-pointers and ended their annual competitive road trip with a 5-1 record. They had won 11 straight games before Sunday’s loss to the New York Knicks.

No losing streak to worry about in Philadelphia. The Spurs never trailed and led by 49 points at the end of the third quarter.

Devin Vassell hit 6 three-pointers and scored 22 points for the Spurs.

Tyrese Maxey scored 21 points for the 76ers. They only scored a total of 11 points in the third quarter.

The Sixers were again without Joel Embiid as he missed the second of three scheduled games with a strained right oblique muscle. The 76ers were also without suspended Paul George and Kelly Oubre Jr. (due to illness), which left them short-handed and under tremendous pressure against the stronger Spurs.

The 76ers lost V.J. Edgecombe after a hard landing on his back during a first-half three-point attempt.

As part of NBC’s NBA Coverage Throwback Night, the Spurs put on a show in front of Bob Costas, Doug Collins and more familiar broadcasters.

The 76ers want to get this ball back.

Carter Bryant hit a 3-pointer to take a 60-36 halftime lead, and the 76ers were booed from the sidelines heading into a timeout. Harper scored 14 points at halftime to lead 78-53 — all without forward Harrison Barnes, who woke up from a nap with ankle soreness, ending his streak of 364 consecutive games.
