Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides have been optimized for tablets and foldable phones, the search giant announced as part of several changes to its workspace apps for Docs, Spreadsheets and Presentations. The company previously announced it would update more than 20 Google apps to work better on tablets during Google I/O earlier this year. It also adds drag-and-drop improvements and full mouse support to these Google Workspace apps.

In a recent blog post, Google shared all the new features coming to Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Drive for Android. Most of these features will be useful to owners of tablets and foldable phones.

Some Workspace apps are getting one of their most requested features: content drag and drop. According to the company, this will allow users to simply drag content from the app into Slides, as well as other Google apps.

This means that when you have two apps open at the same time, you’ll be able to simply drag content from the slideshow into the other app on Android. This will make importing media faster and easier. The feature, for Google Drive earlier this year, allows users to quickly upload files by dragging and dropping them into the app.

Google has also enabled drag and drop support for files and folders in the Drive app to change their location.

Additionally, the Google Docs app has been updated to provide full mouse support on Android. This will allow you to select text by simply clicking and dragging it instead of scrolling through the document. Google says all of these features are rolling out now, so if you can’t try them out, you should make sure your Google Workspace app is fully updated.

Recently, the company also rolled out redesigned Switches for its word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation apps on Android. The new switch has a pill-like design, making Material 3 (M3) switches larger than before. It also adds new colormaps, and taller and wider tracks. The redesigned switch is also available for the latest version of Google’s Android Workspace app.
