Google is adding contacts to the side panel of Gmail. This feature expands the information that you can already view when you hover your mouse over a person’s name on Gmail. With “Contacts” on the side panel of Gmail, you can learn more about the people you work with-the people in your organization, your contacts, and the people who emailed you. You can see which team this person is in and whether you have interacted with them before. The feature has already begun to roll out, but it will take several weeks to reach all users worldwide.
Google aims to simplify collaboration and contact with stakeholders through this feature.User can click More information Hover your mouse over the user’s information card, or select the “Contacts” icon on the side panel of Gmail.
A blue contact icon will appear under “Tasks” on the side panel of Gmail. You can also add other people to your contacts and then send them an email or message. You will see other information about the collaborator, including contact information, such as their phone number and email address, their team and manager, the location of their office and desk, and whether you have received their email before .
Google said that in order to make the most of this feature, it will help users to completely fill data in the Google Workspace application.
The contacts on the side panel of Gmail will be available to users with personal Google accounts and Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, and G Suite Basic, business, education, educational enterprises and Non-profit organization customers.
The Gmail side panel can already access calendar, Google Keep and tasks. You can also add third-party add-ons to the side panel.
