Google Chat for Web and its desktop applications gained support for dark mode nearly a year after its Android and iOS applications acquired dark mode. Dark mode support for Google Chat is also being rolled out for Progressive Web App (PWA). In addition, Google Calendar allows users to add their work locations. Users will be able to add weekly work location routines to their calendars and even update their locations when plans change. A choice between “office”, “home”, “unspecified” or “other place” will be provided.
The technology giant announced the launch of a dark mode for Google Chat on its web and desktop versions, as well as Progressive Web App (PWA) through blog posts. Google stated that this feature cannot be controlled by an administrator.Enter to find Settings> Theme Settings Then select the dark mode. The same method applies to the Google Chat PWA and Web versions of the application.
Dark mode is gradually being introduced, so users may not see it immediately. The roll-out may take up to 15 days to be fully completed. All Google Workspace customers as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers can use this new feature.
As mentioned earlier, Google also provides a feature that allows users to add their work location directly to the calendar. Users can add their work locations for the week and make changes when plans change. This feature will start rolling out on August 30, but administrators have been granted the authority to control how this feature is used in their organization. Google stated that this feature will be enabled by default, but it can be disabled at the domain or OU level. If the administrator wants to disable this feature, they need to disable this setting in the management console before August 30.
For end users, this feature will be turned off by default unless the administrator manually disables it. Google Calendar will display a dialog box with the option to enable it from August 30. This feature can also be enabled in “Settings”.
If this feature is enabled, users can show others which days of the week they plan to be in the office, work from home, or work from another location. This will help to better plan face-to-face meetings, especially in mixed work environments. Google said that all Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus and Non-Profits and G Suite Business customers can use this feature. It does not apply to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Enterprise Essentials, Education Fundamentals, Frontline customers, and G Suite Basic customers.
