A GoFundMe was set up to raise funds for Obdulia Sanchez’s funeral. Obdulia Sanchez was previously convicted of driving under the influence while live-streaming the 2017 crash that killed her sister.
Sanchez, 26, of Stockton, was killed and a man wounded in a drive-by shooting on Dec. 2.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the 700 block of Gertrude Avenue just after 7 p.m. on reports of a shooting. Deputies said a man and Sanchez were found at the scene with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital.
Sanchez later died from his injuries.
“Your support will help us focus on healing and remembering who she was, rather than worrying about the financial burden during this difficult time,” Gloria Sanchez said.
The mother said she wanted to honor her child’s life by giving her child a Catholic funeral where she would be loved by family and friends. However, she said the cost of funeral arrangements was more than the family could afford.
“Losing a child is something no parent should have to face, and the pain is overwhelming, especially as we are still grieving the recent loss of our husband,” Gloria Sanchez wrote on GoFundMe. “Our family is trying to cope with such a huge loss in such a short period of time, and we are doing our best to support each other and begin the long process of recovery.”
She said Odulia Sanchez’s death left the family experiencing an unimaginable tragedy.
The fundraising goal is $9,000.
Gloria Sanchez, Odulia Sanchez’s mother and the organizer of the fundraiser, said it was with a heavy heart that she reached out to the community to help pay for her daughter’s funeral.

In 2018, Sanchez, 19, was sentenced to six years and four months in prison for driving drunk while live-streaming a crash that killed his 14-year-old sister.
She was found guilty of aggravated vehicular manslaughter, causing bodily injury or death to more than one victim, and child abuse/endangerment.
The car Sanchez was driving swerved onto the shoulder of the road in Los Banos. Authorities say she overcorrected, causing the vehicle to swerve and roll over, ejecting Jacqueline Sanchez and killing her.
Sanchez was driving and live-streaming on Instagram, and the video showed her taking her hands off the steering wheel, prosecutors said.
The recording shows her leaning over her dead sister after the accident.
Police reports say Sanchez called 911 after the accident.
“Can you come pick up my sister? She’s (expletive) dead,” Sanchez was quoted as saying. “Man, I just crashed, drunk driving. Can you come pick us up?”
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said it received Sanchez from Merced County on February 14, 2018.
CDCR said she received 404 days of pre-sentence credit while awaiting sentencing and is eligible for credit while incarcerated.
CDCR said in a statement that Sanchez was released to parole supervision on September 21, 2019, after serving his legally mandated sentence.
While on parole, Sanchez was sentenced to five years and four months in prison for eluding or attempting to elude a peace officer while driving recklessly and possession/possession of a firearm by a felon or drug addict as a second shooter.
CDCR said they picked her up from San Joaquin County on June 17, 2021.
She was released on January 25, 2022, to post-release community supervision by the San Joaquin Probation Department.
In 2023, Sanchez was sentenced again to two years and eight months on a DUI charge for violating the 10-year BAC requirement of .08 as a second forward.
She was taken into CDC custody from San Joaquin County on June 1, 2023.
Sanchez was released on April 9, 2024, to post-release community supervision by the San Joaquin Probation Department.
Later that year, she was sentenced to four years in prison for making criminal threats causing grievous bodily harm/death as a second striker.
Sanchez was received from San Joaquin County on July 25, 2024, CDCR said. She was paroled on September 30, 2025 and placed under parole supervision.
