God of War Ragnarök just got a story trailer. During its State of Play event on Wednesday, PlayStation released a new trailer that offers clues the main story and showcases an up-close look at the game’s combat. Marking the end of the saga, the father and son duo travel to the Nine Realms in search of answers as the Asgardian army prepares for the Battle of the Prophecy. God of War Ragnarök launches on November 9th for PS4 and PS5 only.

As the Ragnarok trailer reveals, the crux of the story is that Atreus is keeping some secrets from his father. Kratos now travels through Fimbulwinter – the prelude to Armageddon – based solely on his son’s intuition, and finally makes contact with Odin’s son Tyr, who immediately recognizes him as the Godslayer. The trio then enters an undisclosed realm inhabited by a persistent enemy that appears to be a key piece of the puzzle–as evidenced by Tyr dragging along a lit path.

The trailer for God of War’s Ragnarok talks Destiny, with Kratos guiding his son to create his own destiny. The sins of his past began to haunt him, and a pair of extremely difficult Valkyries called him a false god. “All the blood on your hands, your son’s hands,” Tyr mentioned, suggesting that the events of the first game had consequences. There’s also brief conflict between the father and his now-teenage son — who discovers his name is Loki — during their journey into the Nine Realms.

New gameplay was also showcased, as we saw Kratos straddle a massive gap, using the Chaos Blade as a grappling hook/anchor–used as a double-jump ability in certain areas. Kratos can also infuse his weapons with fire or ice elemental attacks, dealing more damage and stunning groups of enemies. The trailer ends with a brief glimpse of Freya as Tyr continues to nag Kratos. “Has anyone ever worshiped you in your life? Has anyone ever prayed to you?” he said. “Can you imagine that kind of love?” “
