Georgia Athlete Flees at 150 MPH in BMW M5 — Then Tries Talking Trash to Cops Anyway

A University of Georgia football player was caught speeding in a 2022 BMW M5 with his two younger siblings in the car. Neal Daniels was arrested last week on multiple felony charges, including second-degree child abuse, and has been kicked off the college football team, 11Alive reports.

His mother, Brandi Canada-Green, has also been implicated in the incident. Investigators said Daniels allegedly drove more than 100 mph in a 25 mph zone in an attempt to distract police who were trying to stop his mother from running a stop sign in a Nissan Rogue. She reportedly blocked a patrol car as Daniels fled, who then reached speeds of 150 mph on Interstate 85 — an extremely dangerous speed, especially when his younger siblings were in the car.

Even the M5 can’t transcend reality

Daniels is able to reach such speeds because the BMW M5 is far from your average luxury sedan. The “M” badge marks BMW’s high-performance division, and the 2022 M5 builds on the previous-generation F90 with a 4.4-liter S63 twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces close to 600 horsepower.

In addition to his reckless driving, Daniels was reportedly confrontational. Police said he told them, “None of you can drive.” In response, police emphasized that they refused to engage in dangerous high-speed pursuits to avoid endangering the public.

“We don’t have the ability to run a red light without respecting a stop sign or a red light. So every time we try our best to comply with these laws, while we’re complying with these laws, they’re just creating distance. So, of course, you’re going to outrun us,” said Commerce Police Chief Jeff Drosman.

Daniels eventually surrendered to authorities after speaking with his coach and handed over the M5 used during the pursuit. Police also reported detecting the odor of marijuana inside the high-performance sedan.

Bonds for Daniels and his mother were set at $21,000 and $11,000 respectively, the report said.
