The three-day B20 kick-off meeting has begun in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Several policymakers, including Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, as well as business leaders and senior executives representing businesses from G20 countries, will attend the three-day B20 India kick-off meeting here on Sunday.
India holds the G20 presidency in 2023 and will host the 18th G20 summit in September. The Business 20 (B20) is one of the most prominent official engagement groups in the G20, with participants including companies, business associations and multilateral organisations.
The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies. It includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union (EU).
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been officially designated by the Government of India as the B20 Secretariat to lead and host B20 during India’s G20 presidency.
“The kick-off meeting will bring together several policy makers, thought leaders, business leaders, CEOs and senior executives representing businesses from G20 countries, as well as representatives from a number of multilateral organizations, to stimulate a rich discussion and deliberation on the B20 India business agenda,” CII said in a statement.
B20 India will work through seven working groups and two action committees.
During its presidency, B20 India will host a series of discussions and policy advocacy initiatives across India covering identified industry priorities with the aim of realizing the B20 strategic vision and translating it into concrete and actionable policy recommendations, it added .
“Among the many initiatives planned by the B20 India Secretariat, the kick-off meeting officially launched the chairing of all working groups and action committees under the B20 India,” it added.
The themes of the seven working groups include digital transformation; technology, innovation and research and development; inclusive global value chains for resilient global trade and investment; financing global economic recovery; energy, climate change and resource efficiency.
Prominent business leaders who will be speaking on Monday include B20 India Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Tata Sons Chairman; Bajaj Finserv Ltd CMD Sanjiv Bajaj; Mastercard Michael Froman Vice Chairman and President Strategic Growth.
Together, the G20 accounts for 85 percent of global GDP, 75 percent of international trade, and two-thirds of the world’s population. It is the premier forum for international economic cooperation.
