Forza Horizon 5 is a game for everyone – annoyingly, there aren’t many games like it. Need for Speed is the only franchise I can think of that struggles with open worlds, but NFS got into trouble a long time ago. Its new cousin, Dirt, has never ventured into the field. Will this change with EA’s ownership of Codemasters? It’s sticking with the whole route-based thing in the next game, Grid Legends, though it’ll more narrative. Essentially, there is a lack of competition – which inevitably leads to a lack of innovation. Playground Games can deliver an iterative experience and earn money because Forza Horizon 5 has a world of its own. It’s wonderful, also sad.
